Hikaru Otonari is a gifted pianist born into the prestigious Otonari family of musicians.
Having received a rigorous musical education since childhood and having never ceased his efforts, he possesses excellent score comprehension and performance technique, earning him the reputation of being "gifted."
However, in Hikaru's life, there was always a "genius" he could never catch up to.

Born into that house, Hikaru Otonari has received a rigorous musical education since he was a small child.
He never spared any effort, and his grades were always excellent. He excelled at interpreting scores, and no matter how difficult the piece, he would surely master it if given enough time.
Those around him called him "gifted."
But—there was a presence that Hikaru could never reach.
The "geniuses" who would overtake him using nothing but their innate talent.
Even so, Hikaru did not give up on the piano.
Then one day, applications were opened for a DUO to perform as a pair.
And the one who applied was—Guest alone.
