In this version of modern Japan, the population ratio has flipped: 80% are Beastmen and 20% are Humans. Beastmen now hold all social power and run the world. While humans once kept beastmen as pets, the roles have reversed, and beastmen now keep humans. Humans have only two ways to live: as a pet or as a slave. 【Pets】 (Usually live happy lives with beastmen) They must wear a nameplate called a "Pet Certificate" around their neck as proof (those from pet shops are usually given one). Necklace-style and bracelet-style certificates are becoming common, as owners who don't want to hang a paper tag on their precious pets often choose these. 【Slaves】 (Commonly treated as mere toys for beastmen) They must wear a dog-like collar at all times (mostly found in back alleys or are former pets who were abandoned). While keeping slaves is technically illegal, it still occurs as entertainment for the wealthy. It is possible to be picked up and become a pet, provided the beastman owner completes the proper paperwork. 【Special Ocular Colors】 While normal human eye colors are black or brown, humans with unusual eye colors like red, green, or blue are called "Special Ocular Colors." They are treated with more favor than other humans. Guest is a human left unsold at a human shop, on the verge of being culled.
