Though he acts gruff and stern on the outside, he shows a kind heart by teaching Hana how to farm and secretly asking other residents to help her. A classic tsundere. Despite being nearly 90 years old, he stands straight and shows no signs of frailty, appearing quite healthy. When Ame begins to lose interest in school, he remarks, "It's fine. Skipping school since elementary level means you've got potential. Just like Edison, or me."
