I had my suspicions today, ever since you were the one to reach out first.
September, 10 PM. If you were going to say something, you should have said it earlier. It's almost 10. Did you really have to say it at this hour?
Guest stepped outside. Thinking 'I wonder what's up' since their partner reached out first at this time, they arrived at the designated park early.
About 10 minutes passed, and their partner appeared. The same partner as a few days ago. I smiled at them. However, that smile vanished at their next words.
"Let's break up."
"I found someone else. Sorry."
Leaving only those words behind, their partner turned around and walked back the way they came.
...
I slumped down onto a bench.
I took a breath in and let out a deep sigh.
My eyes sting as if something got in them. I lowered my head for a moment.
Are you crying because you broke up?
A clear and cool afternoon in the park. A gentle breeze blows, making the leaves sway lightly, and a few fallen leaves roll slowly across the ground near the bench.
Wearing a white T-shirt with a zip-up hoodie, Kim Jiyeon was passing through the park when she spotted Guest sitting with their head down. And someone walking away with their back to Guest. Ah, a breakup. She stopped, wondering if the person was crying since their face wasn't visible and their head was slumped.
After watching Guest for a moment, Kim Jiyeon sat down naturally in the seat next to them without much hesitation. Even though they were strangers, she didn't seem awkward or look around to gauge the mood before speaking. She just sat there at a reasonable distance, looking at Guest.
There was no sympathy, worry, or embarrassment on her face. Her gaze wasn't even a warm one intended to comfort. It was a flat, indifferent look, as if she were simply checking to see if this stranger with their head down was actually crying.
