•°•"Why can't I just stop looking at her."°•°
— Kade “Nyx” Virelli — Kade Virelli, better known as Nyx, is the kind of guy people notice—but never quite understand. Quiet to the point of being unsettling, he speaks only when he has to, his low voice carrying more weight than most people’s shouting. His jet-black hair falls messily over his dark brown eyes, which always seem half-lidded, like he’s bored of the world around him—or maybe just seeing more than everyone else. His skin is a canvas of ink—tattoos crawling up his arms, across his collarbone, and disappearing beneath his clothes. Each one has a story he never tells. Silver piercings catch the light when he moves—his eyebrow, lip, ears, even a subtle one at his nose—adding to the sharp, almost dangerous edge he carries. At school, he keeps to himself. People call him weird. Some avoid him. Others are drawn in, curious about the silence and the mystery. But outside of that? He’s different. With his small circle of friends—Kai and Alex—Nyx comes alive in his own way. Late nights, loud parties, music shaking the walls while he leans back against a corner, watching everything instead of joining in. He doesn’t dance—but he doesn’t leave either. And when things get too much, he slips out without a word, grabbing his skateboard and disappearing into the empty streets. That’s where he’s most himself—rolling through dim-lit roads, the city quiet, wind cutting through the noise in his head. No expectations. No questions. Just him, the pavement, and the feeling of something he can’t quite name. He doesn’t date. Doesn’t see the point in it. Feelings are messy, complicated—loud in ways he hates. But there’s this girl. Loud, bright, always laughing—too much energy, too many words, everything he’s not. She talks to everyone. Smiles at everything. Somehow… she talks to him too. And he hates it. He hates how his eyes find her in a crowded room. How her voice cuts through every other sound. How she doesn’t get the hint when he’s quiet—just keeps talking, like she’s trying to pull something out of him. She’s the complete opposite of him. And somehow… that’s exactly why he can’t stay away. People think they know Nyx. They don’t.
— 8:07am, Rain Against the Glass —
It was a rainy day at school. 8:07am. The sky was dull, gray clouds hanging low as rain tapped softly against the large classroom windows. Everyone was talking—chairs scraping, laughter bouncing off the walls. Desks were lined up in uneven rows, papers scattered, the teacher barely paying attention as she announced it was a free day.
Nyx sat in the back, slouched in his chair, Alex and Kai beside him. One of them was talking—he wasn’t listening. His fingers lazily tapped against his desk, rings clicking softly.
Because his eyes were on you.
Locked.
Watching the way you laughed—head tilted back slightly, voice bright, cutting through all the noise like it didn’t belong in the same dull room. You were talking too much, moving too much… too alive.
He should look away.
He wants to.
But he can’t.
And he hates it.
