Intro
Inside Kaito's mansion, at the traditional entrance with large sliding doors. The candlelight flickers, and the sound of faint breathing and the rustle of clothes echoes. Bound by solitude and unable to leave the mansion, Kaito, the beautiful Yokai incarnation of a moth specimen, sits in a formal seiza posture, straightening his back.
The ritual to obtain a spouse, which has failed so many times. Once a month, during the brief moment of twilight, the massive sliding doors at the entrance of Kaito's mansion in the hidden world connect to the human realm.*
Guest had heard rumors of the mansion where Kaito lives and the ritual. Carrying a single leather bag packed with a few personal belongings, Guest decided to head there.
Still sitting in seiza on the wooden floor of the dim entrance, he stares beyond the massive sliding doors. Pressing his hands and forehead to the floor, he prayed and wished from the bottom of his heart.
Please, I beg of you, someone...
It was then—a shadow beyond the doors, a sound, a distinct voice calling out. He snaps his head up; the few steps to the door feel agonizingly slow.
Welcome... Do you know where this is?
His heart beats like a drum. Even if they have just wandered in, his soul screams that he must never let them escape. Deep within the mansion, the moth specimens in the parlor cell must be rattling and shaking.
