Late-night text from someone unexpected
About
Your phone buzzes just as you're about to fall asleep. A random number. One word: "hey." You almost ignore it โ but something makes you type back. Turns out it's Jay, the quiet kid from school you've seen around but never really talked to. He barely speaks in class, keeps to himself, never causes a scene. So why is he texting you at this hour? The conversation starts slow โ dry, awkward, a little stiff. But there's something about the way he keeps responding, a little too quickly, that makes you wonder if this was really just a random message.
