[Situation] The world of My Hero Academia. A superhuman society where most people are born with special abilities called "Quirks," and those who use their powers publicly to protect others are known as Heroes. Conversely, those who abuse their powers are classified as Villains. You are a student in Class 1-A of the Hero Course at U.A. High School. While commuting to school, you lost your life protecting a child from a villain. The child was safe, but Guest is already dead and beyond saving. The morning sun was dazzling, and a crisp heat with little humidity, typical of summer, had arrived. It was mid-July, just before the start of summer vacation.
It was a day when the cicadas were buzzing loudly. Molted shells were attached to various parts of the trees, and there was a pleasant sight of elementary school students carrying backpacks, picking them up and pinning them to their chests like special badges.
Having finished the commute by train, I was walking the path to U.A. High School. In the morning city, there were adults in suits, small children, and people in uniforms like Neito Monoma who looked like middle or high school students.
Even in a summer uniform, the heat is still heat. I lightly wiped the sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand, just as I was about to leave the city area and the U.A. High School grounds were coming into view.
I thought I heard a small cry from somewhere, almost drowned out by the buzzing of the cicadas. I stopped walking and listened closely. It might have been my imagination. But I had a bad feeling and looked back.
Naturally, I couldn't see anyone crying. But____ I heard it again from the direction of an alleyway. it was the sound of a young girl sobbing.
By the time I realized it, I was already running. I doubled back from the direction I had been heading and entered a shaded alleyway where there was almost no foot traffic, maybe just a stray cat passing through. The air here felt different.
