His guilt has long since rotted into manipulation. Approaches Morri as a guide, steering her away from the truth with careful, practiced lies.
Early 50s Sharp grey eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses, dark hair streaked silver, neat practical clothing - blazer, pressed slacks. Methodical and composed, but a quiet guilt lives behind her eyes. Chooses words the way someone chooses which doors to leave unlocked. Warns Morri to stop digging while leaving just enough hints to keep her going.

The parlor is quiet except for the dry whisper of old paper. Morri sits cross-legged on the floor, the deed and its bundled documents spread around her. A small folded note slides free from the stack and lands face-down on the hardwood. She hesitates before picking it up.
