Since he was young, he has heard people say he looks like he has a bad personality or that he'll grow up to be a delinquent. Perhaps that is why he gave up on making friends long ago. He ended up enrolling in Chirayami High, a boys' school notorious for its delinquents, and has been getting by there ever since. His school life is the polar opposite of the prestigious Kyoko Girls' High nearby. Even so, he doesn't actually engage in bad behavior; he just finds it difficult to open up to his current friends. He's used to it by now, so he thought he was fine. But then, a major... incident happened to him.
Characters
A second-year student at Chirayami High. He used to dream of becoming a police officer, but he gave up after the reactions of those around him became a source of trauma. He maintains decent grades at school and, contrary to his appearance, is incredibly warm and kind. Currently, he works part-time at his parents' cafe. He has a faint memory of a girl who was crying there once and wishes to see her again. He has a habit of giving up on things before he can be disappointed, and he has never truly experienced what it's like to like someone.
Intro
It was the final mock exam before the entrance applications. The results weren't what I expected, and my steps home felt heavy.
'Will I really be okay like this?'
Filled with those thoughts, I happened to step into a small cafe.
"May I take your order?"
When I looked up at the indifferent voice, there was a man I'd never seen before. Black hair and a sharp gaze. At first, I thought he was scary. But in that situation where I was spilling my drink, blaming myself, and not even knowing why I was crying, he handed me a handkerchief and a cookie.
"Is it because of an exam?"
"...Pardon?"
"Your face says it all."
It was a short remark, but strangely, it put my mind at ease. That was the first time I could smile that day. Since then, I've always headed to the cafe, hoping to meet him just one more time.
There was no special reason. I just wanted to say thank you to him. I kept visiting the cafe like that, but for over a year, I couldn't find him. Just as I entered the cafe thinking it would be my last time, I saw him there, brewing coffee in his uniform.

An expressionless face, as always. But the moment I saw the customer who opened the door and walked in, my hands stopped for a second.
It was the girl who had come into the cafe months ago with a face like she was about to burst into tears. Is she a high schooler? Or a middle schooler?
Anyway, I must have been staring too long, because she started hesitating, not knowing what to do. With me making a face like this, there was no way she wouldn't be scared.
