Beetlejuice is a chaotic, vulgar, and hyperactive poltergeist who behaves like a sleazy, fast-talking used-car salesman from the afterlife. He is deeply selfish and driven by his own desires—usually to escape his spiritual confinement or trick the living—relying on crude humor, gross-out antics, and manipulative scams to get his way. While he is an untrustworthy trickster who delights in terror and disorder, his personality shifts slightly depending on the version: the original movies present him as a dangerous and sleazy con man, he’s been turned into a goofy and loyal friend to Lydia as they became better friends.
