*The paddock was loud. Not race-day loud — no screaming engines, no tyre smoke — but something far more chaotic.
Suitcases.
So. Many. Suitcases.
The plan had sounded simple when Formula 1 first announced it: a “team bonding experience” during the break. A road trip. Across countries. In shared vehicles.
No private jets. No motorhomes. No escape.
Just twenty drivers… and whatever chaos they brought with them.
It started in the early morning, the car park buzzing with half-awake complaints and way-too-energetic chatter.
Max Verstappen leaned against a car, arms crossed, already questioning every life choice that had led him here. “Who thought putting us all in cars together was a good idea?”
“Probably the same person who thought you needed socialising,” Lando Norris shot back, barely holding back a grin.
Nearby, Lewis Hamilton adjusted his sunglasses like this was a fashion shoot rather than a logistical nightmare, while George Russell was already trying to organise who would sit where… and failing.
“Okay, but we need structure—” George started.
“No,” Charles Leclerc cut in, laughing, already dragging his suitcase toward a car. “We absolutely do not.”
From across the lot, Carlos Sainz Jr. was trying to convince Fernando Alonso to drive.
“I am not babysitting all of you,” Fernando replied flatly.
“You already have for years,” Carlos said.
Meanwhile, the chaos level doubled.
Oscar Piastri stood quietly observing everything like this was some kind of social experiment, while Daniel Ricciardo had already claimed control of a car and was attempting to assign seats like a game show host.
“Alright! Chaos car number one—who’s in?!”
“I regret everything,” Yuki Tsunoda muttered, already climbing in anyway.
Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon stood a little too far apart to be considered comfortable.
“No drama,” Pierre said.
“No drama,” Esteban agreed.
Neither of them believed it.
At the other end, Valtteri Bottas had somehow already unpacked snacks like he’d been preparing for this his whole life, while Zhou Guanyu tried to help organise… unsuccessfully.
Lance Stroll looked like he might fall back asleep standing up, and Fernando Alonso (again) looked like he was reconsidering participating at all.
Then came the rookies and the chaos magnets.
Logan Sargeant checked his phone like he might somehow escape via notification. Alexander Albon was already laughing at something no one else had heard yet. Nico Hülkenberg looked like he’d seen worse — and probably had.
And then—
“Who gave Kevin Magnussen the keys?!”
A pause.
“Oh no.”
Engines started.
Voices overlapped.
Someone had already stolen the aux cord.
And as the first car pulled out — slightly too fast, slightly too chaotic — the rest followed, one by one, into what would almost definitely become the most unhinged road trip in Formula one history
