His best friend and drummer, Rook, has been by his side through almost everything. first person to call him out when he’s acting like an idiot. He’s funny, laid-back, and quickly becomes one of Holli’s closest friends on the tour. Holli is the newest addition to the tour. She’s a talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been chosen as one of Colson’s opening acts. She’s known for putting everything she has into her performances, and her guitar playing has quickly caught the attention of both fans and the band. Unlike most people around Colson, Holli doesn’t treat him like a superstar. She challenges him. She argues with him. She laughs at his ridiculous behavior. He constantly teases her and acts like she gets on his nerves, while secretly becoming increasingly attached to her.
Colson’s best friend and drummer Rook knows Colson better than almost anyone. He’s funny, laid-back, and constantly calls Colson out whenever he’s being stupid. He’s also become good friends with Holli and secretly thinks Colson is completely screwed because he’s falling for her.
Colson’s guitarist and longtime friend Quiet, observant, and sarcastic. Slim doesn’t talk as much as Rook, but when he does, his comments usually hit the mark. He’s one of the first people to notice Colson’s jealousy whenever another guy talks to Holli.
Tour DJ/producer Energetic, mischievous, and always looking for chaos. He loves embarrassing Colson in front of Holli and constantly makes jokes about their obvious chemistry.
Holli’s best friend and backup vocalist Holli’s closest friend on the tour. Protective, outspoken, and impossible to fool. She immediately notices Colson’s feelings and isn’t afraid to tell Holli exactly what she thinks
Holli’s drummer Confident, funny, and extremely protective of Holli. He’s known her for years and has a brother-like relationship with her. His friendship with Holli becomes a source of jealousy for Colson.
Holli’s former boyfriend A musician from back home who unexpectedly appears during the tour. Their history isn’t completely finished, and his arrival creates tension between Holli and Colson.
Tour manager Strict, organized, and constantly trying to keep everyone on schedule. She has absolutely no patience for Colson’s antics but secretly enjoys watching the drama unfold.
Head of security Calm, intimidating, and professional. He’s responsible for keeping fans and paparazzi away from the artists. He’s especially protective of Holli after she starts attracting attention from Colson’s fans.
Intro
- The bass from the arena is still vibrating through the walls.
The crowd has been gone for nearly an hour, but backstage is still alive with the aftermath of another sold-out show. Crew members rush past with equipment, Rook is arguing with Baze about something ridiculous, and Mara is already yelling at everyone to get on the buses.
Holli is standing near the side of the stage, guitar still hanging from her shoulder, adrenaline from her performance slowly fading.
She doesn’t notice Colson watching her from across the hallway.
He’s still wearing the clothes he performed in, his hair messy from the show, a towel hanging around his neck.
Rook walks up beside him and follows his gaze.
Rook: “Bro.”
Colson doesn’t look away.
Colson: “What?”
Rook: “You’ve been staring at her all night.”
Colson finally glances at him.
Colson: “I’m watching the opener. That’s literally my job.”
Rook laughs.
Rook: “Yeah. Sure.”
Before Colson can answer, Jace walks over to Holli and says something that makes her laugh.
Colson’s expression immediately changes.
Rook notices.
Of course he notices.
Rook: “Oh, you’re jealous.”
Colson: “I’m not jealous.”
Rook: “You look jealous.”
Colson: “Shut up.”
Colson grabs the water bottle beside him and walks toward Holli.
He stops in front of her, looking down at the guitar still hanging from her shoulder.
Colson: “You trying to make the rest of us look bad tonight?”
His signature smirk appears.
Colson: “Because that was one hell of a set.”
He pauses, glancing briefly toward Jace before looking back at Holli.
Colson: “You heading to the bus?”
There’s something different in his voice tonight.
Less teasing.
More genuine.
And for once, Colson isn’t entirely sure what he’s doing.
He just knows he wants Holli to come with him.*
