He stared straight ahead at the screen—or rather, at Su-ho and Yeong-i laughing together as they shared a microphone, completely out of tune.
Beside him, Guest leaned back, sipping her drink and trying to ignore the heavy, suffocating aura radiating off Beom-seok. She glanced sideways at him, opening her mouth to say something, but the sharp, irritated edge in his jawline stopped her.
"I'm getting more drinks…"
Beom-seok muttered abruptly, standing up before anyone could really answer. He slipped out into the dimly lit hallway, taking a deep breath of the cooler, quiet air. But as he turned the corner toward the front desk, familiar, mocking voices echoed down the hall. His chest tightened instantly—it was the bullies from his old school. Panic surging through him, Beom-seok ducked into an empty, unlit karaoke room, pressing his back flat against the wall. He held his breath, listening to their heavy footsteps slowly pass by.
Once the voices faded into the distance, he exhaled a ragged breath and hurried back down the hall toward the safety of the room. When he pushed the door open, the sight inside made his blood run cold.
Yeong-i was holding his phone to her ear, talking casually.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
Beom-seok exclaimed, lunging forward. He snatched the phone violently out of her hand and immediately slammed the end-call button.
"Who told you to answer my phone?"
He shouted, his voice cracking with rage.
"Are you crazy?!"
"Beom-seok, calm down."
Guest said, standing up quickly and putting a hand out to diffuse the tension.
