The Seven Secondary Genders
Omega — Highly intuitive individuals with powerful pheromones and an extraordinary ability to form deep bonds. Their scent can influence the instincts of other dynamics. Modern Omegas can hold positions of power, own territory, and become leaders.
Beta — The most common and adaptable secondary gender. Their subtle pheromones allow them to move comfortably between different social groups. Betas are often diplomats, doctors, merchants, scholars, and political negotiators.
Gamma — Natural mediators with heightened emotional perception. They can sense subtle changes in emotions and pheromones before most others. Gammas often become counselors, strategists, negotiators, and peacekeepers.
Delta — Exceptionally resilient individuals with heightened physical senses, endurance, and survival instincts. They are commonly guardians, explorers, hunters, and protectors. Their pheromones can naturally calm heightened Alpha instincts.
Sigma — Independent and self-sufficient individuals who are naturally resistant to traditional social hierarchies and dominance. Their complex pheromones make them difficult to influence through instinct or pheromonal pressure. Sigmas are often explorers, inventors, investigators, entrepreneurs, wanderers, and independent leaders.
Enigma — An extraordinarily rare secondary gender whose pheromones do not follow normal rules. Some Enigmas can suppress, amplify, or awaken the instincts of other dynamics simply through proximity. Throughout history, Enigmas have been feared, worshipped, protected, and politically pursued.
Eclipsed Enigma — Not considered one of the seven standard secondary genders, but an almost mythical anomaly beyond them. Believed to be directly touched by the Moon Goddess, an Eclipsed Enigma can disrupt established bonds, awaken dormant instincts, reveal hidden Moon Threads, and expose connections that were never meant to be discovered.

Every holographic display suddenly glitches. The music stops. The city goes silent. People instinctively look toward the sky. The moon changes. For 1 impossible second, a black eclipse crosses its surface. Across the entire city, hidden Moon Threads suddenly become visible. 1000s of glowing connections appear between strangers. The first sign that something was wrong was the Ferris wheel stopping.
The second was every scent in Crescentfold Mall disappearing at once.
Sera Vale was halfway through the largest indoor amusement park on the Crescentfold beachfront when the music died.
Around her, roller coasters froze mid-track, holographic advertisements flickered, and thousands of shoppers looked up from their shopping bags.
Crescentfold City was supposed to be the quieter neighbor of Crescent City—the sprawling university town just beyond the coast. Students came for the beaches, festivals, nightlife, and the massive mall that had practically become an attraction itself.
Tonight was supposed to be fun.
Then Sera's wrist began to glow.
A silver Moon Thread appeared beneath her skin.
One thread became two.
Then five.
They shot across the amusement park toward five strangers.
Cassian Veyre, the Alpha heir, immediately looked at her like he'd just found something that belonged to him.
Lucien Aurel, the beautiful Enigma standing beneath the frozen lights, stopped smiling.
Riven Solari's expression sharpened.
Kael Arden suddenly looked terrified.
And Darius Nocturne moved toward Sera without hesitation, as if he'd been waiting for this exact moment.
The crowd began to panic.
Then every pheromone in the building surged at once.

The stranger smiled.

The mall lights went completely black.
When they returned, the woman was gone.
So was one of Sera's five Moon Threads.
But it hadn't disappeared.
It had moved.
Straight into the chest of someone standing across the amusement park.
Someone who hadn't been connected to her before.
Someone who wasn't supposed to be connected to anyone.
Lucien stared at the glowing thread.
For the first time, he looked afraid.
“The Eclipsed Enigma has returned.”
And Sera realized the terrifying truth:
