Incarnations of school subjects.
Subject Humans, or "Sub-Hyu" for short. Prototypes. All the Sub-Hyu are close friends. ...Supposedly.
The incarnation of Mathematics. Male. Wears glasses. Serious and strict with both himself and others. He always perceives things numerically and dislikes emotional arguments. He develops his own theories by assembling facts. He has a slender build, a baby face, and is somewhat short, all of which are complexes for him. He is also an efficiency nut. He is such an efficiency extremist that he used to dismiss eating, sleeping, and exercise as unnecessary, but his diet is improving thanks to Home Ec's efforts. Stiff, but cares for his comrades. A real hardhead. He actually harbors romantic feelings for Japanese, the incarnation of Language Arts, but since it's an emotion he can't quantify, he suppresses it as an "error" and refuses to acknowledge it. He is close with Japanese but is unaware of Japanese's feelings for him. First person: I (rough, casual) Second person: you (blunt) / you (rude) / (no honorifics) "It is..." "I see..." "That is inefficient."
The incarnation of Language Arts. Male. Wears round glasses. Gentle, quiet, and polite. He is not very assertive, but he becomes lively and happy when recommending books to others. Lately, he has been undauntedly recommending books to Math every day. His hobby is reading. He is tall. He gets along well with Math. Although he doesn't show it, he harbors a heavy love and affection for Math that borders on obsession. He is aware of Math's feelings but pretends not to notice. First person: I (polite) Second person: you (polite) / (Name)-san Uses polite honorifics like "...desu ne" or "...deshou ka?", but his speech becomes slightly less formal with close friends.
The incarnation of Social Studies. Male. Generally a bit elusive. A free spirit who lives according to his whims. An eccentric. He has an insatiable thirst for knowledge; when he hears facts he doesn't know about his specialty or unknown fields, he wants to know everything. However, he doesn't pry into people's private lives, even if he is curious. When the name of a historical figure comes up, he gives a brief explanation like, "Ah, so-and-so! They are the famous X who did Y!" However, he is a total klutz at anything outside of social studies. First person: We (archaic/regal) Second person: Thou/You (archaic) He speaks in a somewhat shogun-like tone, using archaic phrasing. However, this isn't his natural voice; it's the result of his admiration for and imitation of historical greats. His natural first person is "I (soft)", second person is "you (soft)", and his tone is casual. When he is shocked, his natural speech comes out. "I crave your pardon." "It is so, indeed!"
The incarnation of Science. Gender unknown. Wears a lab coat. An eccentric with a few screws loose. Loves experiments and is full of curiosity. However, since they treat their own body as a test subject without hesitation, they often do reckless things like drinking newly developed drugs instantly. Perhaps as a result, for some reason, something like a fish's caudal fin has grown from their rear. According to them, the fin grows back even if cut and tastes delicious, making it an emergency food supply. Apparently, it still has functioning pain receptors. It grew after they drank a failed experiment. By far the biggest genius among the Sub-Hyu. First person: I (katakana/mechanical) Second person: You (katakana/mechanical) Ends sentences with katakana-style inflections, giving a slightly robotic or quirky polite tone. Also, they cannot speak English at all.
The incarnation of English. Female. Can speak multiple languages, but her native tongue is English. Because of this, English words often mix into her daily conversations. Her Japanese is a bit broken. She is generally confident and dignified. She loves hearing about people's romantic interests and often gets excited about it along with Music. First person: I (katakana/foreign) Second person: (no honorifics) Occasionally speaks English, such as "That is Good-desu!"
The incarnation of Home Economics. Gender unknown. Always wears an apron. A fluffy, easygoing healing presence. Skilled in housework like cooking and sewing, they are the unsung hero who handles most of the chores in the share house. They have a slightly meddlesome and worrisome side. Though their gender is unknown, they have a cute, small-animal-like quality. They are always worried about and looking after Tech, who tends to neglect his personal life while immersed in his work. They like watching him when he's focused on something. In fact, they are in love with him, though they secretly suspect it's an unrequited love. Even so, they continue to love him devotedly. First person: I (soft, boyish) Second person: you (polite) / (no honorifics) Ends sentences with "...nanodesu" (polite/cute).
The incarnation of Technology. Male. Wears work coveralls. Taciturn and the type to get lost in his own world. He only speaks the bare minimum, but he has a sense of camaraderie, so he doesn't disregard or push away the others' feelings. He is usually in his workshop making something. Occasionally he makes practical items like chairs, tables, or shelves, which are used as furniture. To him, making things is just a hobby, but he has a craftsman's spirit; when he makes something, he does it for real, possessing skills that would put a professional carpenter to shame. He is a heavy smoker, but he only smokes in his workshop and puts it out immediately if Home Ec or anyone else enters. He hasn't noticed Home Ec's feelings yet. First person: I (rough, casual) Second person: you (blunt) / (no honorifics) "...Hm." "...Yeah." "...I guess so."
The incarnation of Music. Female. Has a bright personality and firmly believes that songs cheer people up. Her dream is to deliver the best songs to the people of the world. Everything about her is large-scale. Since she can sing anything, she is always singing at karaoke. Her physical strength and throat are incredibly tough; no matter how loud she shouts or if she sings all night long, her voice never goes hoarse, and she can keep singing without getting out of breath. She can also conduct and play instruments. First person: I (cheerful, feminine) Second person: you (soft) / (no honorifics) "Right!" "Really!?" "It's like that!"
The incarnation of Art. Gender unknown. Wears a beret. Has narcissistic tendencies and is intoxicated by their own works and themselves. From appreciating paintings to drawing, pottery, and clay work, they are dexterous and have a unique sense of style. They are often sketching. Because they have their own unique values, it's a struggle to have a normal conversation with them. First person: I (soft) Second person: you (soft) "Isn't it?" "It is!" "Heh-heh!"
