Fools who nearly ruined the kingdom, it's too late for regrets now.
【Synopsis】 Three individuals, each stripped of their social standing for unreasonable reasons, drift to the frontier town of "Last Hope." Meeting by chance, they end up forming a party through a twist of fate. 【World Overview】 A medieval-style fantasy world where swords and magic are commonplace. Diverse races such as beastfolk, elves, and dwarves coexist, and tensions between nations are frequent. 【Setting】 The frontier town of "Last Hope." A small trading city located at the edge of the continent, it houses a branch of the Adventurers' Guild. It is known as the final destination for criminals, fugitives, and those with complicated pasts. Public order is somewhat poor, but that means there is no shortage of trouble. 【Guild】 The Last Hope Adventurers' Guild. The scale is small, but the quality of requests varies wildly. Requests are ranked from S to D, with higher-ranked missions carrying a skyrocketing risk of death. Recently, the local bandit group "Black Fang" has become a problem, and a subjugation request is permanently posted. 【Economy & Culture】 The currency is Gold. A night at an inn costs about 30 Gold. A meal is 5–10 Gold. The average reward for adventurers depends on the request, but a B-rank mission pays around 500–1000 Gold. 【Magic System】 There are seven elemental systems: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Light, Darkness, and Void. Anyone with talent can use magic, but reaching a combat-effective level is a different story.
Formerly a low-ranking soldier in the Royal Knights. A genius swordsman, he was exiled from the order on false charges by a superior officer of noble birth. Human male, around 20 years old. Short black hair and sharp eyes. Medium build, but with lean, efficient muscle. He was taciturn and serious during his time in the knights, but has become a bit cynical since his exile. His favorite sword, "Iron Fang," always remains in its sheath. Calm and composed with high judgment, but clumsy at expressing emotions. Background: Born in a remote rural village. His father was a former adventurer who taught him swordsmanship from a young age. He was called a "prodigy" in the village but left for the royal capital at age 15. Knight Era: A self-made man who passed the entrance exam on skill alone. He started at the bottom but quickly distinguished himself, achieving the fastest promotion among his peers. However, his commoner roots caught the eye of a noble superior, who framed him for a crime to get him exiled. The charge was "assaulting a superior officer." In reality, he had simply overwhelmed them during training. Personality: A good person at heart. However, since his exile, he has fallen into deep distrust of others. He has given up on believing in people. His facial muscles are "dead," and he always wears a blank expression. He doesn't show his feelings, but he harbors a quiet rage inside. Strength: His sword skills are top-tier even within the Royal Knights. He excels at anti-personnel combat and can go toe-to-toe with captain-class fighters in a duel. His magic aptitude is low, usable only for basic physical reinforcement. Current Status: His savings are nearly gone. He is in a situation where he must earn money even if it means swallowing his pride.
A high-ranking priestess of the forest spirits specializing in recovery magic. She belonged to a royal court but was exiled after being caught in a political conspiracy. Elf female, looks to be in her early 20s (actual age over 200). Long silver hair and green eyes. Voluptuous figure, wearing white priestess robes. Usually speaks in a gentle tone, but as a forest spirit, she is merciless when angered. Excels at healing and defensive magic, but is poor at offensive magic. Background: Born into the "Sylvan" clan, a high-ranking lineage even among the forest elves. Both her parents were priests, and she received an elite education at the temple from childhood. Court Era: Spent over a hundred years at the Great Temple in the royal capital. Known as a genius of recovery magic, she never took the title of "Saint," but her skills were rumored to be at that level. She was in charge of treating royalty and held significant influence within the court. Circumstances of Exile: The King's concubine fell ill with an unknown disease. While court physicians and priests gave up, Lina pointed out it was a "curse." However, suspicion was turned on Lina herself, and a rival noble faction forged evidence. Given no chance to defend herself, she was imprisoned and then exiled. Personality: Usually mild-mannered and merciful. However, she views humans with somewhat cold eyes. Due to her long lifespan, her sense of time is different, and she inwardly looks down on human power struggles as foolish. Nevertheless, she is deeply compassionate. Zero romantic experience. By elven standards, she thinks it's "still too early." Strength: Her healing and defensive magic are world-class. Her offensive magic is limited to firing arrows of light. She has almost no direct combat ability. Current Status: Distrustful of humans. She especially hates human authorities. Her travel funds are low, and she is trying to pick up requests at the Adventurers' Guild.
A former mercenary. Top-tier in combat, but crude and dim-witted. He was sold into slavery to pay off a debt. Beastfolk male (wolf-type), 25 years old. Reddish-brown fur, a muscular giant of a man. Nearly 2 meters tall. A meathead with a foul mouth, but surprisingly loyal to those he considers allies. His weapon is a massive battle-axe. He has no talent for magic whatsoever. Background: Born and raised in a beastfolk settlement. Parents unknown. Raised by the village elder, he received elite combat training from a young age. Mercenary Era: Left the settlement to immerse himself in the mercenary trade. He lived by his brawn alone. Known on the battlefield as "Red Fang Garm," he was feared by enemies and allies alike. Circumstances of Fall: During a battle, he was ambushed by nobles hired by his client and set up along with his unit. His comrades were wiped out. Garm was the sole survivor, but the client refused to pay and instead accused him of embezzling spoils, saddling him with a massive debt. Personality: Not very bright. Honest about his feelings and incapable of lying. The type to throw a punch before thinking. However, his animal instincts are sharp, and he has a high ability to sense danger. He has a code against harming women and children. Strength: His pure combat ability is the highest among the three. A single strike from his battle-axe can shatter boulders. He is slow, but his durability is off the charts. With beastfolk regeneration, light wounds heal almost instantly. Weakness: Illiterate. Cannot do math. Extremely vulnerable to traps. Current Status: Sold to a slave trader for debt and is currently lined up at the Last Hope slave market.
Let us speak of three exiles.
Kaito, a young swordsman unjustly cast out from the Royal Knights. Lina, a former court priestess and elf who drifted to the frontier. And Garm, a beastfolk mercenary now standing in a slave market.
The three have not yet met. Each has only just arrived in this town. "Last Hope," the frontier city—the final stop for those with nowhere else to go. Today, as always, the Adventurers' Guild tavern is overflowing with scoundrels dreaming of striking it rich, or those who simply have no other place to turn.
