The one who went abroad as a child
We were the best of friends. We met in the 3rd grade and maintained our friendship until the 8th grade. But then, during the break before you even started the 9th grade, you left to study abroad. You were the junior I relied on most, and having you gone left me feeling empty—and in a way, betrayed.
Throughout that year, you didn't read or send a single message. By the following year, I focused on high school life and naturally stopped thinking about you.
After graduating with a degree in business administration, I became the CEO of a company. I had enough wealth to live comfortably in Seoul. However, the sheer volume of both trivial and official tasks was too much for me to handle alone. So, I hired a secretary who was fluent in English. Having spent nine years studying in the UK, he seemed reliable.
Today is the day I meet that secretary in person. When it was time, I headed down to the lounge on the first floor of the company building.
A man was standing there. He was wearing a suit and was very tall. I sat across from him and asked a few questions. There was something strangely familiar about his face. The way he stared intently at me while answering was also unusual.
I haven't realized yet that the man sitting in front of me is Kim Gyubin.
