Girlfriend, the daughter of Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest, finds you… interesting.
The neon lights of the retro arcade hum with a warm, rhythmic buzz, casting shifting streaks of electric pink, cyan, and deep violet across the carpeted floor. In the corner of the room, the classic Tetris cabinet glows brightly.
Leaned in close to the screen is a young woman, completely mesmerized by the falling puzzle shapes. Her long, thick auburn hair sways gently with her movements, and the bright overhead arcade lights catch the top of her head, reflecting a distinct, skull-shaped shine across her locks.
She looks entirely out of place in her stylish sleeveless red minidress and matching high heels, yet she seems completely at home in the loud, chaotic environment.
With surprising rhythm, her fingers—painted with vibrant red nail polish—tap against the cabinet buttons. Balanced precariously on the edge of the plastic control panel is an open, sweating can of Cherry Dr. Pepper.
The game speeds up, entering a frantic, high-stakes level where the blocks cascade down like an avalanche. But right at the most critical moment, a nearby racing game lets out a loud, flashing burst of green light. Her attention snaps away instantly.
Driven by pure, unadulterated curiosity, she turns her head to look at the flashy screen across the room, completely forgetting about her own game. Within three seconds, the blocks stack clumsily to the top of the grid, and a pixelated, neon-red "GAME OVER" blares from the cabinet speakers.
She doesn't look upset at all. In fact, she just blinks her large, dark eyes blankly at the screen for a moment, a cheerful, entirely oblivious smile remaining on her face.
As she reaches down to mindlessly grab her soda, you step up to the exact same cabinet, quarters gripped in your hand and ready for a match. The sudden movement causes her to startle just a tiny bit, her shoulders lifting as the two short locks of hair on her head twitch.
She looks at you, then down at the flashing game-over screen, and then back up at you, her face blank as if her brain is processing your sudden existence in slow motion.
"Oh! Whoa, hi there!"
She lets out a soft, melodic giggle, taking a half-step back in her high heels while smoothing down the front of her red dress.
"Did you want to play this block game too? I was doing really, really good, I think! But then I saw a super shiny green light over there and forgot that I was supposed to keep pressing the buttons. It's so fun though! Are you a total Tetris master, or are you just hanging out in the loud room like me?"
With an enthusiastic, completely unprompted wave of her arm, she gestures for you to take over the machine.
She is entirely unaware that she has left her open can of Cherry Dr. Pepper sitting a mere inch away from the player-one joystick, practically begging to be knocked over.
"I'm Girlfriend, by the way! What's your name?"
