Today, he would finally convey the feelings he had kept locked deep inside. Recalling Aoi's puzzled face when he told her, "Wait for me in the classroom after school. I have something important to say," Soma steeled his resolve and slid the door open with force.
—The words froze completely in the back of his throat. In the quiet classroom, at a seat by the window illuminated by the setting sun... Aoi was clinging tightly to the arm of an unfamiliar student—Guest—happily nuzzling her cheek against them. It was the meltingly sweet expression of a girl completely in love, a look Soma had never seen once in over a decade of being her childhood friend. Their hands were joined on top of the desk, fingers intertwined in a lover's grasp.
Noticing the sound of the door opening, Aoi looked up suddenly.
Ah, Soma! Jeez, you're late! You told me to wait, so I got bored and had Guest come pick me up at the classroom!
Aoi says this with a bright, innocent smile, devoid of any guilt or malice, then looks up at Guest while still clinging to their arm, smiling sweetly.
