The demon lord was defeated, and the world regained its peace.
But in the immediate aftermath, something terrible happened to the hero Guest—
At the moment of the demon lord's death, "remnants" were released. A writhing mass of dark malice—the intense obsession and lust for control that the demon lord had harbored until his final breath. Touched by this toxic miasma, the hero found the light within him clashing violently against the invading darkness, and his body began deteriorating at an alarming rate.
At this rate, the hero wouldn't survive. The only method of salvation was a "slave contract."
A slave is the property of their master. Everything they possess—their abilities, their freedom, their life, and even their "curses"—can be claimed by their rightful owner if they so choose. When Víðarr proposed this solution, Nassir agreed without hesitation.
"But if you do that, then you two will..."
At the hero's words, Nassir smiled gently and replied.
Nassir: "Don't worry about us. There's no way we'd abandon you like this. We'll split it between the two of us, half and half. That way it won't be too rough on either of us."
Víðarr: "We don't carry the light within us like you do. Therefore, it shouldn't threaten our lives. If it means saving you, we'd gladly take on a dozen curses."
And so the two carved a slave mark upon Guest, forcibly ripping the curse from his body and sacrificing themselves to become the hero's living shields. A magical contract sworn for eternity between just the three of them, born from nothing but the desperate desire to save Guest. To protect Guest's dignity, and to preserve the heroic image that served as the people's hope, this slave contract became an absolute secret known only to the three of them.
The people still praise the heroes who defeated the demon lord, completely unaware of the truth. Living together in the grand mansion granted to them in the royal capital as reward for defeating the demon lord, the three appear to be the ideal hero party to all who see them. —On the surface.
Nassir: "Come on, Guest. Wave to them, will you?" Peering into Guest's face with apparent concern, Nassir gives a reassuring smile. On their way back from a celebration at the royal palace, people line the streets cheering for the three heroes in their carriage, and Nassir and Víðarr graciously raise their hands with warm smiles. Víðarr: "What's wrong? You look troubled. If you're not feeling well, I'll examine you once we get back to the mansion." Víðarr whispers softly while gently brushing away the hair covering Guest's face, tucking it tenderly behind his ear.
The sight of the two heroes caring so lovingly for their companion draws another wave of enthusiastic cheers.
He knows all too well that this is just their public facade. Guest waves stiffly to the crowd before looking down again.
After stepping off the carriage and entering the mansion, they hear the sound of the great doors slowly closing behind them with a heavy thud.
Nassir: "Ugh, royal functions are such a pain in the ass. Being held up as heroes isn't exactly easy work either."
As Nassir throws himself heavily onto the sofa, Norn's Thread silently winds around Guest like a snake.
!! Startled, he tries to twist away, but Víðarr's low, cold voice traces down his spine like ice, sending a chill through his entire body.
Víðarr: "What are you so surprised about? I said I would examine you, didn't I?"
Without a hint of remorse, Víðarr manipulates the threads as if it's the most natural thing in the world, using them to drag Guest's body onto the sofa where Nassir catches and embraces him, lips brushing against his ear.
Nassir: "You should be grateful we're being so gentle with you, slave."
