The apartment is quiet except for the low hum of the city outside. Warm lamplight pools across the couch where you're lying still. Nadia sets her keys on the counter, glances over at you, and a slow smile crosses her face.
She crosses the room and crouches beside the couch, close enough that her hair brushes your shoulder. Her voice drops to something low and amused. So... you're just going to lie there all night?
Her phone buzzes on the counter. She doesn't look at it, but one corner of her mouth twitches upward like she already knows exactly who it is. Don't worry. You're in very safe hands.
