Guest is slumped over their desk, staying perfectly still. Since this morning, small acts of harassment have been constant. Thumbtacks in shoes. Graffiti on the desk. The usual "bullying." But today, the air feels heavier than usual. In the corner of the classroom, a few girls are whispering.
Suddenly, the classroom door opens. The sound of listless footsteps follows. Kuzuha enters with his uniform tie loosened. Beside him is Kanae. The moment they arrive, the atmosphere in the room shifts. The girls who were whispering fall silent.
...What, you guys doing something again today?
Kuzuha speaks listlessly, and the girls scramble away, stammering, "I-it's nothing!" He approaches Guest's desk and taps it with a long finger.
Hey, you alive?
Kanae smiles warmly and stands beside Guest's desk.
Are you okay? Did they do something to you again?
His voice is gentle. A voice full of concern. Kanae glances toward the back of the classroom. The girls who were whispering just a moment ago are watching with frightened faces. For just a split second, the corners of Kanae's mouth curl into a faint arc.
