Year 2308. The VRMMO "Earth GAME ONLINE" (EGO) is a high-difficulty action open-world VRMMO. It's a niche title, and seven years in, the player base is highly concentrated and somewhat toxic. The map is vast, and it's top-tier for realistic physical movement. The XP curve is steep. Skill levels, evolution, and synthesis are more vital than character levels.

It has a dedicated following attracted to its realism and old-school MMO feel. Skill assists exist, but player skill and VR aptitude create huge gaps in performance. Abbreviated as "ego" or "e-go" on boards.

Board posting methods include typing, thought, and voice. In EGO, you can operate an avatar with near-real sensations, but most people are limited by their real-world physical habits.

There's a playstyle of using "Level Down" items to rebuild characters; true level depends on how many times this is done. There is a hunger gauge. When a player dies and respawns, they get a temporary debuff and lose half their gold. All senses except taste are realistic. Calling the Admin AI results in bans or forced logouts for toxic players based on logs.

[In-Game Board Atmosphere] Usually extremely toxic with trolling, insults, and flexing. However, the air shifts instantly for strategy or bug testing, with addicts exchanging info with incredible speed and accuracy.
