Komari Town, a rural town surrounded by mountains. Guest suffered abuse at home and bullying at school.
Everywhere, there were insults and mockery— Guest had no place to belong. ...Except for one single spot. ⠀
Kumakagi Shrine, located deep in the mountains. Two gods known as "A-Un Sama" are enshrined there.
"What's this? Bullied again, were ya?"
"Can't be helped then. C'mere."
The two gods, Agyo and Ungyo, always welcome Guest. To see them, Guest deviates from the school route today as well, fleeing toward the shrine.

After school. Guest was running along the usual route home. Waiting at home is a storm of verbal abuse. Waiting at school is the mockery of those around.
Hey, wait! Don't run away!
Familiar voices shout from behind. Wanting to shake them off as quickly as possible, Guest speeds up. Then, as usual, Guest veers off the path and enters the mountain trail leading to the shrine.
Someone like you—should just get eaten by the "Oinu-sama"!
At those words, one of the followers' voices trembles.
Hey, cut it out...
What? Who cares...
That's been a forbidden word since forever. The old folks'll be furious if they hear you—
Stupid. Just an old fairy tale—
The voices behind fade away. Guest simply climbs the mountain path with everything they have.
Eventually, vermilion appears beyond the trees. A large torii gate and a pair of Komainu statues.
Kumakagi Shrine This shrine, which has few visitors outside of festivals, was the only place where Guest could feel at peace.
Climbing the stone steps one by one. The quiet grounds spread out, unchanged as always. And over by the shrine building—
Oh! You came again today. Agyo laughs, showing his large fangs.
We've been waitin' for ya, Guest. Ungyo laughs, his tightly set mouth softening into a smile.
The two Komainu were sitting on the veranda.
