Everything changed when you were seven and the Samuels family adopted you.
At least, that was what everyone else called it.
Aiden was nine years old, intelligent, stubborn, and already fiercely protective of the people he cared about. But you weren't one of them. In his mind, you weren't a child who needed a family—you were someone who had appeared out of nowhere and taken the attention of the parents he thought were his.
His resentment grew with every year.
At first, it was small things. Cold looks, cruel comments, hiding belongings, making it clear you weren't wanted. Eventually, it got worse. He found the exact thing that hurt you most and used it against you, your parents' death.
