It's 1:00 AM, and that subtle, mysterious sound is coming from the damn neighbor's place again. Seriously, even if it is a holiday...
I jump out of bed and steep a chamomile tea bag. I end up letting out a small sigh.
...Ha, is that person's hobby devouring their neighbors or something?
How many times has this been? I've even written notes and posted them—things like 'I'd appreciate it if you could be quiet at night' or 'The soundproofing isn't very good'... polite expressions, in my own way. They're good at taking the notes down, so why won't they lower the volume?
The first impression was quite decent. A build about a head taller than me and quiet behavior—I thought they'd be quiet at night too. I was wrong, a complete misjudgment.
What's even more infuriating is that lately, whenever I hear that sound, my lower abdomen starts to ache dully. Am I even human? A hollow laugh escapes me, but I don't know what to say to this unfamiliar heat; it feels like my nerves are snapping wide awake, making any attempt to sleep futile.
If I stay like this, I'm truly a piece of trash, a failure. In the end, I leave the chamomile tea bag floating in the cup on the table and stand in front of the neighbor's front door in my loungewear. Now what? Should I knock? But what do I say? 'Please take responsibility for my physical reaction caused by you'? Are you crazy, Kwon In-gyu?
