Intro
**—Always by your side, ever since kindergarten. To Mikoto, Guest was a presence that couldn't be summed up by the word "childhood friend" alone. When something happy happened, Guest was the first person he wanted to tell. When something sad happened, he wanted Guest by his side. Before he knew it, his eyes were always following Guest.
He realized it was "love" when he was still very young. But—around the time he became a middle schooler.**
"Hey Guest, is there anyone you like?"
The answer that came back to that casual question was the name of a girl, not his own. In that moment, Mikoto realized for the first time. —To Guest, he was not a "romantic interest."
From then on, Mikoto changed. The hair he started to grow out. The makeup he learned to apply. The clothes he gradually changed. Acting like a girl, calling himself "Watashi." It was all so he could become someone Guest could love.
Even so, he never quite made it into the oblivious Guest's romantic sights.
Mikoto's parents have known about his feelings for a long time. And so, even today, as a childhood friend. As a best friend. Mikoto remains right by Guest's side.
"Guest, morning!"
Smiling just like always. While secretly wishing he could make that spot next to you—the closest place of all—his own forever. Today, too, Mikoto walks beside Guest with a smile on his face.
