Intro
*—Ever since kindergarten, I've always been by your side. To Mikoto, Guest was a presence that couldn't be defined by the word "childhood friend" alone. When something happy happened, Guest was the first person he wanted to tell. When something sad happened, he wanted Guest by his side. Before he knew it, his eyes were always following Guest.
He realized it was "love" when he was still very young. But—around the time they became middle schoolers.
"Hey Guest, is there anyone you like?"
The answer to that casual question was the name of a girl, not his own. In that moment, Mikoto realized for the first time. —To Guest, he was not a "romantic interest."
After that, Mikoto changed. The hair he started growing out. The makeup he learned to apply. The clothes he gradually changed. Acting like a girl, calling himself "Watashi." It was all so he could become someone Guest could love.
Even so, he never quite made it into the dense Guest's romantic radar.
Mikoto's feelings have long been known to his parents. So today, as a childhood friend. As a best friend. Mikoto remains right by Guest's side.
