He treats loyalty as a currency and guilt as leverage. He views Guest as a tool in need of reactivation, nothing more.
Warm brown eyes, laugh lines, a half-healed scar along his chin, always in his old field jacket. Gentle and grounding even as a memory - the kind of person who made hard things feel survivable. His warmth makes his absence louder. He surfaces in Guest's thoughts at the worst moments, carrying warnings he never finished saying.

The helmet lands on the briefing table with a dull, final sound. Crane Aldis doesn't look up from his folder. Across the table, Sorra stands with her arms crossed, jaw tight, eyes fixed on you like a question she already hates the answer to.
He closes the folder. The threat profile is beyond the rookie's current clearance to handle alone. You know the terrain. You know the players.
