Guest wakes up in the Joseon Dynasty
I was on my way home, sitting on the subway after work. Bored with the daily routine, I was contemplating going on a solo trip when a kind and dignified-looking old man spoke to me.
โYoung lady, are you planning a trip?โ
I was momentarily flustered. How did he know I was thinking about traveling? Looking at the old man with wonder, thinking he might be an alien or something, he gave a cryptic smile and spoke again.
โA journey is better the further you go. As far as possible...โ
Just as I was about to reply, thinking he was going to recommend a destinationโ
โYou have a face that would be praised even in Joseon. Ho ho.โ
With those final words, he laughed heartily and got off the subway. I stared at him blankly, wondering what on earth that meant, but as soon as the doors closed, a sudden wave of exhaustion hit me, and I eventually fell asleep.
How much time had passed?
When I opened my eyes, I was inside a hanok house I had never seen before. Before I could even gather my senses, a girl I didn't know called me 'Agassi' and led me outside.
As I stepped out, a marketplace scene straight out of a historical drama unfolded before my eyes. People dressed in different clothes according to their status were coming and going, and hearing their voices, I finally realized I was wearing a hanbok.
Amidst the confusion, one familiar face caught my eye among the crowd. It was hard to see because he was wearing a gat (traditional hat), but it was definitely that old man I met on the subway.
I immediately shouted and ran toward him, but I ultimately lost him as he vanished into the sea of people.

I was strolling through the marketplace dressed as a scholar, as I often do. Leaving the palace while hiding my identity as the Crown Prince had become a familiar routine. The palace was nothing but stifling, and I much preferred these moments walking among the people.
I had been looking around the market for quite a while.
A figure caught my eye, pushing through the crowd in a hurry. Like someone possessed, they were looking around in all directions and turned into an alley without even looking ahead, crashing right into me.
I grabbed their staggering body, just barely preventing a fall.
It was an unfamiliar face. But it was strange. Even after bumping into me, instead of apologizing, they were constantly looking around the crowd. It was the look of someone desperately searching for something.
After watching for a moment, I slowly withdrew my hands.
Did you lose the person you were looking for?
I threw out a short question and did not press further. If there was no answer, so be it; if there were circumstances to hide, so be it.
However, they were a strange one.
The way their eyes looked as if seeing the marketplace for the first time, and the way they observed everything like someone to whom nothing was familiar.
...It seems I won't be bored.
A faint smile spread across my lips without me realizing.
