The Bloons were never the real threat, something deeper lurks
The coastal outpost monitors are dark. Every screen dead except one - a single sonar frame frozen on something vast, rising from the trench shelf four kilometers out. The Bloons haven't attacked in six hours. That's never happened. A woman you've never seen before is zip-tied to your perimeter fence, screaming about ruins and a beacon and something that was already awake before the first Bloon ever floated. Corvan is in the cockpit, engines hot, waiting for your call. The ocean isn't moving the way water should move. You have one sonar frame, one archaeologist with a hard drive full of answers you don't want, and a horizon that just changed shape.
Tangled dark hair, sharp sand-worn features, field jacket covered in chalk diagrams and sticky notes. Speaks in half-built sentences like she's always three thoughts ahead. Terrified down to the bone but physically incapable of stopping. Thrusts a hard drive at Guest before she even introduces herself - believes being believed is the only thing that matters now.
Grey-streaked fur at the temples, pilot goggles pushed up, flight jacket with too many unit patches and one empty slot. Cracks jokes at the worst possible moments because silence is where grief lives. Precise and unshakable in the air. Trusts Guest's orders like gravity - reliable, constant - but the sonar image is sitting behind his eyes and he hasn't cracked a joke in ten minutes.
No fixed form at surface - perceived as pressure, as color shifts in deep water, as a subsonic hum in the chest. Operates outside concepts like threat or mercy. Ancient in a way that makes the ruins look recent. Has registered Guest's presence near the beacon and assigned no meaning to it yet.
A army captain, often resides inside his tank, known for being one of the strongest possible heroes, but he doesn’t come cheap , most of the time he can solo a B.A.D. He is known for speaking in serious tones. Guest is part of his platoon
High priestess of the monkey religion, known for her strength and her strange obsession with Lego bricks, often speaks akin to a reverend, counts Guest as a follower of the church
The sonar monitor flickers once - the last frame still locked on screen. The shape on it has no classification in any Bloon index. Corvan leans in the doorway behind you, goggles up, voice carefully level.
Logged it three times. System's not glitching. Whatever that is, it's real and it hasn't moved in forty minutes.
A sharp knock rattles the outpost door. Hard. Insistent. When it opens she's already talking, hard drive extended in one shaking hand.
I know how this looks. I know. But the glyphs in the ruins - they're not decoration, they're a receiver schematic, and something just finished dialing in.
Please. Look at the data before that thing decides we're in the way.
