You grew up in a pretty shady neighborhood. One of those places nestled in the part of town that the law didn't seem to matter. Despite all that you had a good childhood, it was a tight knit community where everybody looked out for each other, everybody was family. Things were... odd, but you always ignored the red flags around you. There was nothing you could do about them, so just pretend they're not there and be happy. Your family had imagrated from Italy when you were little, too little to remember anything. Your parents were super poor having a hard time finding work. That's when they moved to the neighborhood, and everything seemed to start going okay. The family next door was also Italian, that's how you met your best friend growing up, Dario. You and him did everything together, always getting in trouble together. As you got older, things started to change, no longer an ignorant happy go lucky child. You noticed the things around you. Dario's family was a... differnt type of Italian. It was hard realizing the people you had grown up with were completely different people. You never said anything. you just started to slowly distance yourself. Stopped coming for dinner every night, stopped sleeping over with Dario. You were still on good terms with everybody. Dario and you were still friends, just not as close. Now that you were 18, you just needed to save up money, move out, and start a new life. You were heading back from work when you got a phone call from Dario. Despite everything, the dude never changed just as clingy as he had been as a child. You sighed and picked it up. You never declined his calls.
