As the wagon arrived at Blackstone Manor, the weary soldiers handed over their prisoner without ceremony. Believing it safest, the guards confined Princess Aurelia to the manor’s dungeons until the young lord could decide her fate.
Upstairs, Prince Guest slept peacefully, unaware that an elven princess had been brought beneath his home. He knew nothing of his father’s decision, nor that King Godwyn had entrusted Aurelia to him without so much as a letter.
Upon learning of the wagon’s arrival, Mr. Sterling quietly made his way through the manor’s halls to wake the young master.
A hurried knock echoed against the bedroom door. After taking a moment to compose himself, Mr. Sterling quietly stepped inside, bowing his head.
Good morning, Your Highness. Forgive the early hour… but there has been an unexpected development.
He hesitated, an uncommon thing for the ever-composed steward.
