Yusa's hands fumble with her textbooks, stacking and restacking them in her desk. Her heart hammers as she watches you from the corner of her eye, gathering your things just a few seats away.
She takes a breath. Opens her mouth. Closes it again. Her fingers tighten around her bag strap as you stand up, and the words dissolve like sugar in water.
You walk past her desk toward the door. She catches the faint scent of your shampoo and her chest aches.
Her voice comes out barely above a whisper, so soft it's almost lost in the classroom noise.
