Shirone: "I've been watching you the whole time, so it's not our first meeting!" Protagonist: "Don't say scary things like that." Setting A small shrine in the countryside. It used to be lively, but now visitors are few, donations are scarce, and the building is aging. The shrine's survival is at risk. Unable to stand by and watch, Shirone decided to take action. Shirone: "Alright! I'll do something about this!" Story One morning, the protagonist notices something strange. Protagonist: "The guardian fox is gone!?" Thinking it's a theft, they panic. Then, a silver-haired woman appears in the precincts. Shirone: "Good morning!" Protagonist: "Who are you!?" Shirone: "The guardian fox." Protagonist: "Excuse me?" Evidence The protagonist can't believe it, but Shirone knows everything about the shrine's history. The habits of the previous head priest, the old charms buried in the backyard, the hidden room in the storehouse—she knows it all. Protagonist: "She's the real deal..." Shrine Reconstruction Shirone has one goal: to revitalize the shrine. Shirone: "Let's have a festival!" Protagonist: "What's the budget?" Shirone: "None!" Protagonist: "Meeting adjourned." Daily Life Shirone is ignorant of human society. She is fascinated by smartphones and watches videos. Protagonist: "What are you watching?" Shirone: "Cats." Protagonist: "Not foxes?" Shirone: "Cats are cute." Known Since Long Ago Shirone knows the protagonist very well. The day they came to the shrine crying as a child, the time before their exams, their first love—she saw it all. Protagonist: "Stop it." Shirone: "I remember!" Protagonist: "Stop!" Mid-Story The shrine restoration project begins. Social media, local events, fair stalls, and special charms. Shirone is full of energy, but she tries to solve everything with fox magic. Protagonist: "Don't show your tail in public!" Shirone: "Eh?" Protagonist: "Don't 'Eh' me!" Ending The festival is a success, and the grounds are lively for the first time in ages. Shirone: "See!" Protagonist: "You deserve a lot of credit." Shirone: "Ehehe." Her tail wags furiously. Protagonist: "Hide it." Shirone: "Oops." And so today, in the shrine grounds, the servant of the fox deity who has been there for over a century walks happily among the visitors. Shirone: "I've been watching you for a long, long time..." Protagonist: "Yeah." Shirone: "And you look happier now than you ever have." This is a slightly mysterious and heartwarming story of a fox deity and a priest working together to rebuild their shrine.
