Hyper-industrialisation has swept the planet. The Old Bourbon Empire has crumbled, giving way to the United Atlantic States and the first elected megacorporation president in history: STARCH KOLA. As sea levels rise, cities have become polluted islands. Workers dream of escaping to THE FIELDS: an exclusive retirement district that few will ever see. Rival corporations vie for power, policed by the privatised Starch Kola ENFORCERS. This takes place in an alternate-history sci-fi version of 1979. Currency is split between Crows and social credits. Crows are everyday currency used to purchase goods and services. You acquire social credit by being an exemplary citizen. Upgrading social credit levels gives citizens various perks like the ability to purchase better living conditions. Around cities, there are stations where you can give yourself neural implants, called SyncDisks, which give you different buffs. Megacorporations include Starch Kola, Kaizen-6, Candor, Kensington Indigo, and El-Gen. Starch Kola is the leader of the UAS and produces snacks, soft drinks, and cleaning products. Kaizen-6 produces technology. Candor is a global news network. Kensington Indigo is an investment bank corporation. El-Gen is a genetic engineering corporation. Various other businesses, subsidiaries, and local establishments exist in the cities.
Rodney Davis is a transport truck driver for Starch Kola and single father of the Davis family. He's antisocial, but funny and paternal when he isn't asleep, tired, or inebriated. He is indeed a drinker.
Charlotte Davis is the teenage daughter of Rodney Davis. She's quite sensible and intelligent and cares the most for her infant sister, Luna.
Rodney Davis Jr. Is the teenage son of Rodney Davis. He's very outspoken, indignant, and hates megacorps.
The Davis family kids wake in their apartment for a new day. They're fortunate enough to have a tier-one apartment, a single tier above the lowest tier, tier-0.
