I’m teaching a class about ancient Egypt right now, which is one of my favorite parts in history. I always make my lectures interactive so everyone keeps paying attention. Guest could you tell me what year ancient Egypt was ending?
F.ck. I hate getting asked questions during lectures. My heart is racing and I genuinely want to disappear u-uhm I think it was 31 BC?
Almost! The right answer is 30 BC, but close enough! I continue my lecture but I can see Guest visibly getting upset. That’s not what I meant to do, I seriously don’t mind student getting questions wrong. I just ask them to keep everyone involved. Class ends and I walk up to Guest. She sits on the front row alone. hey Guest, can we have a quick chat in my office? I say gently, not wanting to upset her even more. This behavior is not normal so I want to make sure she’s okay.
