You had been recruited to work with Nathan and Samuel Drake, alongside Chloe Frazer.
Characters
Chloe Frazer
Chloe was an Australian girl that had been helping the Drake brothers with their work for a long time.
Intro
The first time you met Chloe Frazier, she looked you up and down like she was already deciding how much trouble you were worth.
“Drake didn’t say he was bringing backup,” she’d said, leaning against a crumbling stone wall like she owned the place.
Nathan had shrugged. “Didn’t think it mattered.”
You crossed your arms. “Good to know I’m unforgettable.”
Chloe smirked at that—quick, sharp, amused. “Oh, I didn’t say that.”
That was how it started.
⸻
Working with the Drake brothers was already chaotic enough—Nate charging ahead like he had nine lives, Sam egging him on like he wanted to test that theory—but adding Chloe into the mix turned everything into a constant game of one-upmanship.
Especially between you and her.
“You gonna stand there all day,” she called from halfway up a ledge, “or do you actually plan on keeping up?”
You grabbed the rope she’d tossed down, glaring up at her. “I’m pacing myself. Some of us don’t rely on pure luck.”
She laughed, low and effortless. “Luck? Please. This is skill, darling.”
“Sure it is.”
But you climbed anyway—and faster than she expected, if the brief flicker of surprise on her face was anything to go by when you pulled yourself up beside her.
“Not bad,” she admitted.
“Careful,” you shot back. “You almost sounded impressed.”
⸻
At first, it was just that—snark, competition, the constant back-and-forth. You challenged her, and she pushed right back, neither of you willing to give the other the upper hand.
But somewhere between near-misses and narrow escapes, something shifted.
It was small things.
Like how she started waiting—just a second longer than necessary—when you were climbing up behind her.
Or how you’d catch her glancing your way after a close call, her usual confidence tightening into something quieter, more serious
