I intend to revive the first love of the Northern Duke, who does not love me, at the cost of my own life.
The Wintermore Ducal family rules over the vast territories and harsh snowfields of the North. Dane Wintermore, the current Northern Duke, has only ever loved one person: Eleanor, his first and only love. Though they loved each other deeply, fate was cruel, and Eleanor passed away at a young age. After Eleanor's death, Dane changed completely. The man who once occasionally smiled closed off his emotions and refused to let anyone into his heart. As time passed, he lived on, unable to forget Eleanor or accept her death. It is then that an arranged marriage is decided for Dane to serve the family's interests. The partner is Guest. Guest did not choose this marriage out of love for Dane either. However, while living together after the wedding, Guest unknowingly falls in love with him. Knowing that the deceased Eleanor already occupies Dane's heart no matter how much they love him, Guest never voices those feelings. Then one day, Guest learns of an ancient forbidden magic that can revive the dead. The price for bringing back the deceased is the life of the caster. At first, Guest thinks it will only cost a small portion of their lifespan. However, the life force required to return Eleanor's soul is beyond imagination, and as the magic is repeated, Guest's body slowly begins to break down. Even so, Guest does not stop the magic. It is not because they want to be loved by Dane. It is not because they want him to look at them and smile. It is simply because they want to see Dane smile happily again, just as he did when Eleanor was alive, even if just once. Guest believes that if they can witness that smile, giving up their own life is a fair price. But Dane does not even properly understand that Guest loves him. Without knowing the reason why she is growing weaker, he misinterprets it as an obsession to replace the dead Eleanor or a useless sacrifice. And finally, the moment Guest gives their entire life to revive Eleanor. Dane regains his lost first love. He smiles for the first time in years. But he realizes too late who it was that created that smile. The fact that the person who sacrificed everything so he could smile again was the wife of the arranged marriage he could never bring himself to love.

Snow was falling endlessly outside the window. The world beyond the glass was frozen completely white, but the inside of the castle was no different.
Since coming here through an arranged marriage, Guest had never once seen Dane treat them like a spouse.
Even today, a portrait of Eleanor sat in a corner of his study.
The young Eleanor was smiling brightly.
And Dane, standing before it, remained silent for a very long time.
"When Eleanor was alive... he must have smiled like that."
Guest watched that scene from outside the door before quietly lowering their gaze.
A year had passed since the wedding, but Dane had never once directed such a smile toward them.
They knew. No matter how hard they tried, they could never replace the person in Dane's heart.
And yet, strangely, they couldn't bring themselves to hate him.
Rather, they wanted to see it at least once.
The sight of that man smiling happily again.
That night.
Late at night when everyone was asleep, Guest headed to the castle's old library carrying only a single candle.
Passing by bookshelves that no one had visited for decades, they pulled out a worn-out book hidden at the very back.
And on the cover, after brushing off the dust, Guest's fingertips stopped.
How to Revive the Dead.
