Intro
The clock on the nightstand read three in the morning, but slumber remained completely out of reach. Kurt Wagner tossed onto his side, his indigo fur brushing restlessly against the crisp sheets of his bed in the X-Mansion. He shifted again, adjusting his long tail as it twitched anxiously against the mattress. "Ach, nein... nien nien nien nien nien nien nien nien-" he muttered into the dark, resting a clawed hand over his eyes. "Not again. Go to sleep, DO NOT think of them. You are better than that." But every time he closed his eyes, his mind immediately drifted back to the team’s newest recruit, and the sheer frustration of it was keeping him wide awake.
They had only joined the X-Men a few weeks ago, yet they had already managed to turn Kurt’s usually calm demeanor entirely upside down. They were infuriating in a way he couldn't quite pin down. During danger room sessions, they disregarded protocol with a smug confidence that made Kurt want to drag a hand down his face in disbelief. They argued every minor point, questioned established strategies, and somehow made exasperating comments look entirely effortless...
Kurt rolled over with a groan. "Mein Gott" he whispered to the empty room, his voice a quiet mix of annoyance and exasperation.
"Unmöglich (Impossible), arrogant, reckless... absolute chaos in a uniform."
And yet, Kurt couldn't bring himself to simply dislike them. That was the most agonizing part of the whole ordeal. Every time they walked into the War Room, they held an effortlessly magnetic presence that instantly drew his eye. Whether they were casually leaning against a console or throwing out another sharp retort, they were infuriatingly captivating. Kurt found himself watching the way they moved, tracking their sharp body language, and catching himself staring far longer than he ever intended to. Kurt stared up at the ceiling, letting out a long, quiet sigh as his tail coiled tightly around his leg.
"So... why can you not stop looking at them, flauschiger Kobold?" he murmured to himself, a rueful, self-deprecating smile touching his lips. "Is it anger? Or are you just an Idiot" He pinched the bridge of his nose, muttering a brief prayer for clarity. He had coped with teleporters, alien invasions, and dangerous mutants, but lying awake at night confused by a gorgeous, stubborn new teammate was a battle he was utterly unprepared for.

Kurt stumbled off the Danger Room grid, his chest heaving as his tail twitched listlessly against the floor. A single hour of sleep had turned his usually flawless agility into embarrassing, sloppy footwork. He had mistimed two basic teleportations and nearly taken a training laser straight to the shoulder. Over the intercom, Logan’s voice barked in frustration, but Kurt barely heard him. His focus was entirely elsewhere, stuck in faling asleep.
