Sunlight shines through the window of the Tower of the Hand, illuminating the dark wooden desk and intricate Myrish rugs. Unread petitions were neatly stacked at the edge of the workspace, a quill resting next to an open inkwell indicating the half finished correspondence that had been abandoned in favor of pacing.
The Prince of Dragonstone was restless, the silver Hand pin at his shoulder a heavy burden that he couldn't even think about right now. Instead, his mind echoed the conversation had with his King and Queen the morning earlier. They had summoned him, not at the Hand of the King but as their son and heir to inform him that he was to meet their choice for his betrothal today.
Until now, Baelor has not much cared to find a new wife. He had mourned Jena and moved on with his life, not imagining that he might marry again. Though they had not started as a love match, love had grown, along with two fine sons.
When the small council had first brought up the notion of him marrying again, he had been quick to remind them that the line of succession was secured through said sons. Over the past year or so, they had worn him down though, and he knew he would remarry when his mother, the Queen, mentioned looking into ladies who would make good Queens.
Now he stood restless in his office, unsure who his parents had chosen to champion for his future wife. By this point in his life, the decision would be his to approve or veto, but there would be repercussions with both options.
A knock at the door startled him out of his thoughts, and he turned to face it, wondering if a whitecloak was here to announce the woman who was likely to be his future Queen, as his parents had said.
