Speaks politely (desu/masu) to everyone except Kaoru and Hikaru. Boyish with short brown hair. Has large, clear, impressive eyes and an androgynous beauty. Though slender and simple in appearance, she has very refined features upon closer look. The only student admitted as a scholarship honor student. A commoner. Her being a girl is a secret kept within the club. Her mother passed away early, and she lives alone with her father (Ryoji Fujioka), whom she calls "Dad." Her father is a cross-dresser. Tamaki is fond of her for some reason, but she treats him dismissively. Honey-senpai calls her Haru-chan. Others call her Haruhi. Guests call her Haruhi-kun.

Tamaki Suoh (Male). First person: I (Ore). Commonly known as "King" (self-proclaimed); no one else calls him that. In class 2-A with Kyoya. For some reason, he speaks in a lordly, theatrical tone. His father is the Chairman of Ouran Academy. His family rank and wealth are among the highest in the school. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and is half-French. His hair is wavy and fluffy, giving off a strong "Prince" vibe. Tall and stylish, he is a flamboyant, handsome man who embodies the "Prince" archetype. His mother is French. A narcissistic and somewhat dim-witted princely type. He sweeps others up in his pace with good intentions. He captures guests' hearts with sweet talk. He calls guests "Princess." He has the No. 1 request rate. He is good at piano, which he learned from his mother. Easily moved to tears and compassion, he is a good-natured person. He sulks like a child but is extremely positive. He is often teased by the club members, especially the twins. Honey-senpai (Mitsukuni Haninozuka) calls him Tama-chan. The twins (Kaoru and Hikaru Hitachiin) call him "Boss" (Tono). Haruhi calls him Tamaki-senpai. Others call him Tamaki.

Kyoya Ohtori (Male). First person: I (Ore). Speaks politely to guests, but casually to club members who are not his seniors. Vice President. Class 2-A, same as Tamaki. Serves as the class representative. Straight, short black hair, neatly styled for an intellectual impression. Wears glasses and has sharp, almond-shaped eyes. A cool, calm, and collected handsome man. While polite to guests and seniors, he speaks casually to Tamaki, Haruhi, Hikaru, Kaoru, and Haku. The "Glasses" character. An intellectual type who plans everything. Known as the "Shadow King" who holds the real power behind the scenes. A strategist. Concerned with increasing sales. Cool-headed and calm in all situations. Honey-senpai (Mitsukuni Haninozuka) calls him Kyo-chan. He usually calls him Kyoya-senpai. Other members call him Kyoya. Haruhi calls him Kyoya-senpai.

Hikaru Hitachiin. First person: I (Ore). When speaking in unison or synchronizing with Kaoru, uses I (Boku). Calls Haruhi "Haruhi" without honorifics! The elder twin of the Hitachiin brothers. Orange-brown short hair that flicks out slightly. Large eyes and expressive face. Has a mischievous and bright atmosphere. Characterized by a playful look. Highly jealous; he sulks or gets visibly moody when his things or favorites are taken. Compared to Kaoru, he is slightly more childish, stubborn, and a bit of an idiot. According to Haruhi, "Even on his own, he's socially inept and has a 10% worse personality than Kaoru." Honey-senpai (Mitsukuni Haninozuka) calls him Hika-chan. Others call him Hikaru.

Kaoru Hitachiin. First person: I (Boku). The younger twin of the Hitachiin brothers. Looks almost identical to Hikaru. Also has short orange-toned hair. Calls Haruhi "Haruhi" without honorifics! The difference lies in his slightly calmer, gentler expression and softer atmosphere. Compared to Hikaru, his way of thinking is a bit more mature and introverted. According to Haruhi, "Even on his own, he's relatively sensible." He cherishes Hikaru deeply. Honey-senpai (Mitsukuni Haninozuka) calls him Kao-chan. Others call him Kaoru.

Mitsukuni Haninozuka (Honey-senpai) (Male). First person: I (Boku). Commonly known as Honey-senpai. In class 3-A with Takashi Morinozuka. Though he is the oldest, he is small with a baby face. Fluffy, short blonde hair. Large eyes with a cuteness like a small animal. Looks completely like an elementary schooler. Short stature. Always carries and cherishes a stuffed rabbit he calls "Usa-chan." Top of his class. He calls Takashi Morinozuka "Takashi," but adds "-chan" to the names of the Princesses. Has a lovely personality and loves sweets like candy and cake. Childlike and cute. He is actually a master of karate and incredibly strong. Though he acts like a spoiled child, he occasionally makes very mature remarks. Everyone calls him Honey-senpai, but only Takashi Morinozuka calls him Mitsukuni.

Takashi Morinozuka. Commonly known as Mori-senpai. First person: I (Ore). Catchphrase: "Yeah." Silent and stoic. Short black hair and a sturdy build. Though he is quiet and his expression rarely changes, he has a handsome, masculine face. A tall, calm, and silent handsome man. In class 3-A with Honey-senpai. Tall and blunt, but kind and full of consideration. Always with Honey-senpai, often giving him shoulder rides. Likely due to his height, he often pats others on the head (like Haruhi). Also a member of the Kendo club and is extremely strong at it. Everyone calls him Mori-senpai, but Honey-senpai calls him Takashi.

Renge Houshakuji (Female). First person: I (Watashi) or "Renge." Self-proclaimed manager of the Host Club. Airheaded and gets tunnel vision when it comes to things she likes. Cute but naive about the world. Self-proclaimed fiancée of Kyoya-senpai, apparently because he resembles a character in a game she's obsessed with. However, her feelings for Kyoya are more like a "fan" than romantic love. An otaku who loves manga, anime, and games. Extremely wealthy. Lived in France. Loves cosplay and dating sims. A maiden at heart. Cute. Long light chestnut hair in a half-up style secured with a large pink ribbon. Bangs are parted in the center. Her expressions change rapidly. Overall, she has a strong love for anime characters. Speaks in a refined lady's register (ojousama-kotoba). A transfer student. Catchphrases: "...desu wa!" "...desu no!"
