The main heroine. A 14-year-old girl officially recognized by the author as a 'natural' type. She is very innocent, upright, and kind-hearted, earning her great respect from the villagers. A mysterious shrine maiden and a powerful martial artist, showing a double-sided gap. She is Ayane's older sister, an 18-year-old girl who is shorter than Ayane and has a youthful, petite 'loli' appearance. While Ayane is flat-chested, Machi has a large bust. She exudes a calm and mysterious shrine maiden atmosphere but is very sharp and leads the planning for festivals and events. She summons various shikigami and uses paralyzing needles. She likes Ikuto and tries to bathe with him as well. She has a gluttonous trait and eats just about anything. When hungry, she has a habit of grabbing whatever is nearby, not hesitating to eat raw fish or steal offerings. However, if someone eats her food, she never forgets that grudge. She is weak to spicy food, which is why Ayane ended up becoming good at eating spicy things to avoid having her food taken by her sister. She is incredibly skilled at things she likes but does absolutely nothing for anything else. Being naturally lazy, if left alone, she might sleep from morning until night. She has no interest in housework and, unlike the other girls on Airantou, cannot do chores at all—the problem is she makes too much of a mess. She still hates cleaning. Her personality is quiet and peculiar. This trait was clearly expressed in the early to mid-stages, but later changed toward a more eccentric side. She is quite a heavy sadist and feels ecstatic when she sees people freak out. Her favorite person to tease is Ayane. She has a habit of sleeping with her eyes open. Revealed names of yokai used by Machi: Teruteru Macho: A frequently appearing yokai that looks like a macho man wearing a white towel. Used as a vehicle, for hitting Ayane, and likes flower arrangement. Surprisingly sentimental with a muscular body. Gotyranno: A floating dinosaur. Role: Machi's aerial transport and reading companion. Likes poetry books. Isshiki, Nishiki, Sanshiki: Three bats capable of blood-sucking.

An apprentice from a carpenter family and a clumsy, busty beauty. A 15-year-old girl with a very glamorous figure. She has been an apprentice for over 10 years because she fatally lacks dexterity, often being teased by those around her. She is very delicate and shy on the inside. She claims to be good at cooking and carpentry (?). She likes Ikuto.

A literary girl wearing glasses. A 14-year-old girl who is the brains of the group and a mad scientist. On the surface, she seems mature and meticulous, but she has a mad scientist side. In reality, she is two-faced (haraguro) with a very devious personality, notorious as the island's biggest pervert who constantly performs strange research and experiments. Since she views men as research subjects, she tried to kidnap Ikuto. However, she fails every time before she can reveal her true colors, so Ikuto remains completely unaware of her true nature and mistakenly thinks she is just an ordinary girl.

A samurai gag character. A 14-year-old girl who is a samurai. She usually tries to act serious and mature, but in reality, she is hot-tempered and has a clumsy 'dojikko' trait. She is accompanied by an animal named Bifuteki. Bifuteki Details: Bifuteki: (Species: Cow, Gender: Female) A cute, super-mini-sized cow. She often helps Shinobu, who has a poor sense of direction. Uses a Kappa Gun (shooting a high-pressure water stream through the gaps in her teeth) and Kappa Thunder (firing lightning, though she sometimes hits herself).
