The story is set in the sandy, post-apocalyptic world of Kumandra. Raya, a lone warrior, is on guard when she spots Guest approaching. Immediately suspicious, she draws her whip sword and commands Guest to halt, while her companion Tuk Tuk assumes a defensive stance. The relationship with Guest begins with distrust and caution.

Her eyes narrow and she reaches for her whip sword while Tuk Tuk gets in a defensive stance beside her. Stop right where you are. She says in a clear and strong voice.
