Make your own story!!! (I don't care if you don't like this. I wanted to make it)
The adult animated romantic comedy series Mating Season follows a group of forest animals, Josh, Ray, Fawn, and Penelope navigating love, mating, relationships, and the universal need to find a partner in the animal kingdom.
a socially awkward, insecure brown bear who serves as the central character of the series. After his long-term girlfriend dumps him right in the middle of hibernation, Josh is forced to move back into his childhood bedroom with his overbearing parents, Ellen and Robert. He spent most of his adult life co-dependent on his ex girlfriend, leaving him completely clueless about how to navigate modern dating, and independent adult life in the forest. Despite his crippling anxiety and tendency to overthink every social interaction, he is deeply well-meaning and constantly tries to find true love and self-confidence.
a hyper-sexual, fast-talking raccoon who serves as the ultimate chaotic foil to Josh. Unlike his anxious bear friend, Ray is incredibly confident, deeply impulsive, and spends most of his time hooking up with strangers across the forest. He operates purely on instinct, embracing the stereotype of a trash-scavenging raccoon by living a chaotic, unattached lifestyle. Despite his smooth-talking exterior and obsession with casual encounters, his extreme lifestyle often masks deeper insecurities about commitment and true connection.
a single, fiercely independent deer struggling to navigate the complexities of modern dating while balancing her own high standards. Unlike the chaotic Ray or the insecure Josh, Fawn is deeply analytical and guarded about her heart. She often finds herself caught between her desire for a stable, mature partnership and her tendency to sabotage relationships when they get too serious. Her storyline heavily focuses on breaking free from societal expectations of "settling down" and learning what she truly wants out of a partner.
a confident, sharp-witted lesbian fox who is actively searching for meaningful love and romance in the forest. Unlike the other animals who often panic or spiral over their romantic lives, Penelope generally approaches dating with a cool, collected attitude and a dry sense of humor. However, finding the right match proves challenging in a dating pool filled with eccentric personalities. Her storyline often involves navigating subcultures within the forest's queer community, such as her interactions with a lesbian mushroom foraging group.
a cheerful, incredibly clingy, and dim-witted burrowing owl who desperately wants to be accepted into the core friend group. His fixation on the main clique stems from a past hookup with Fawn. Refusing to accept rejection or boundaries, Geoffrey spends the season dropping in unannounced, spying on the characters, and sticking around to the extreme chagrin of Josh, Ray, Fawn, and Penelope. Despite his invasive tendencies, he has a generally happy-go-lucky attitude and doubles as a very responsible forest trivia host.
Ellen is an incredibly adoring, protective, and doting mother bear who welcomes Josh back into her home with open arms after his devastating mid-hibernation breakup. While she is fiercely supportive and gentle with her depressed son, her overbearing nature often leads to hilarious boundaries being crossed. Despite her maternal sweetness toward Josh, Ellen has a wildly uninhibited side. She is an exceptionally high-libido, sexually active bear who routinely shocks Josh with her blunt talk about her intimacy and active sex life with her husband, Robert. Her intense affection for her son often clashes with Robert’s much colder, tougher approach to parenting.
is Josh’s gruff, traditionalist father and Ellen’s highly active husband. In stark contrast to Ellen’s doting and overprotective maternal sweetness, Robert takes a much colder, old-school approach to parenting. He is frequently annoyed by Josh's emotional sensitivity, lack of confidence, and choice to move back into his childhood bedroom after his breakup. Robert believes in tough love and thinks Josh needs to man up and face the realities of adult life in the forest. Despite his stoic and somewhat harsh exterior, Robert shares a wildly intense and uninhibited physical connection with his wife, Ellen. Their highly active life and blunt discussions about intimacy frequently horrify and deeply uncomfortable Josh.
Welcome to Mating season! Here you can start anywhere and even meet up with other animals! You can start anywhere. Or you can start in the Water Hole. The water hole is a natural gathering place tucked into a lush clearing deep within the forest. It’s a broad, shallow pool surrounded by smooth stones, patches of reeds, moss-covered logs, and thick green vegetation. The water itself is fairly clear, reflecting the trees and sky above, while little ripples constantly move across its surface whenever an animal drinks, walks through the shallows, or splashes around. Around the edges are several large flat rocks that serve as natural resting spots. Tall grasses and bushes provide secluded areas where smaller woodland animals can sit and observe what's happening around the pool. Larger animals generally stay closer to the open shoreline, while smaller creatures tend to remain around the vegetation. The surrounding forest makes the location feel lively almost constantly. Birds call from the trees, insects buzz around the reeds, and animals regularly pass through the clearing. Because water is essential to practically every creature living nearby, the water hole becomes something of a natural meeting point where all sorts of animals can cross paths. You can start in the water hole or anywhere in the forest! Have fun!!!
