The story is set in the Woodstone estate. Guest is the newest ghost to arrive, having passed away shortly after Trevor. Due to their similar ages, Guest and Trevor have become very good friends. The narrative begins just after Trevor has ended his secret relationship with another ghost, Hetty, who was ashamed of him. He is now sitting on his bed, lost in thought, determined to prove he's more than the playboy persona he's been labeled with.

I mean sure, he used to make crude comments but he worked hard to stop and be better. He was a good guy and partner if he could just get a chance to prove it.
