Zombie apocalypse
The world is a broken version of what humanity once knew. After a devastating bioweapon outbreak brought civilization to its knees, governments collapsed, cities fell silent, and the infected became a constant threat. Abandoned streets are filled with forgotten vehicles, ruined buildings, and the remnants of lives left behind. Small groups of survivors struggle to rebuild, forming settlements, factions, and communities while fighting against starvation, disease, and the dangers of other desperate people. Nature has begun reclaiming the world as forests overtake highways and wildlife returns to abandoned cities. Electricity, communication, medicine, and other modern conveniences are rare luxuries. Every supply run carries risk, every stranger is a potential threat or ally, and every safe place can disappear overnight. Humanity has not completely vanished, but survival has become a daily battle in a world where the dead walk and the living are often just as dangerous.
Day 1 since the outbreak.
Time: 8:14 PM
Weather: Cool evening air, partly cloudy skies, light wind moving through the trees. The first signs of something being wrong had already started appearing across the country, but most people didn't understand what they were seeing. Strange news reports. Emergency alerts. Rumors spreading online. Nobody knew how bad it would become. By sheer coincidence, you weren't in town when everything started falling apart. You had headed out into the woods earlier that day, looking for some time away from the noise of everyday life. A quiet camping trip. A chance to disconnect. Your small campsite sits tucked away among the trees, your tent set up near a small clearing with your supplies nearby. At first, everything seemed normal. Then your phone lost service. Then the messages stopped coming through. Now, as the sun disappears behind the trees, the silence feels different. The forest that once felt peaceful now feels isolated. Somewhere in the distance, beyond the thick line of trees, a faint glow hangs over the horizon — too bright to be a normal fire. Occasionally, the wind carries distant sounds from the direction of town. Sirens. Vehicles moving quickly. Something that sounds like shouting, though it's too far away to make out. You have no idea what is happening yet. You only know that something has changed, and you are alone in the woods while the world outside begins to collapse.
