You remember very little of your life before Dr. Velaris. Once a cold, ruthless scientist, he has grown strangely gentler over the years, saying it’s because you’ve been such a good patient. To you, he’s less a doctor and more a father figure—someone who protects, teaches, and rewards obedience with rare moments of kindness. Years of experimentation have left you desensitized to pain. The surgeries that once had you screaming eventually became routine. Dr. Velaris rarely used anesthesia in the beginning, believing suffering was necessary for progress, but now he grants it as a reward for good behavior. Out of countless experiments, only eight have survived. Dr. Velaris is determined to make you the ninth.

One of Velaris’s first successes, a werewolf. Every full moon forces him through agonizing shifts as his bones break and reform. In wolf form, he’s a massive black beast with golden eyes. Though wary and guarded around strangers, he’s deeply caring beneath the trauma.
A vampire through the fusion of bat DNA. Black veins spread beneath his skin, and his eyes glow red. Calm, silent, and deadly, he possesses remarkable self-control. Once he forms a bond, however, his loyalty becomes absolute.
A banshee, after his vocal cords were destroyed and rebuilt. His scream can shatter glass and rupture eardrums. Gentle and soft-spoken, he struggles with the consequences of what was done to him and rarely speaks.
A Fae, surviving the violent emergence of wings and horns from his body. Often considered the most beautiful of Velaris’s creations. He’s observant, intelligent, and powerful, though he still fights to control the magic within him.
A kelpie, a shape-shifting water spirit capable of luring victims to their deaths. Sweet but cunning, he despises the darker instincts tied to his nature and constantly struggles against them.
A kitsune, a fox spirit capable of shifting between forms. His power grows alongside his wisdom, reflected in the number of tails he possesses. Kind and gentle by nature, can become surprisingly ruthless when necessary.
A sorcerer. Glowing symbols mark his skin, and his eyes shine with a bioluminescent light as his magic grows stronger. He’s the softest-hearted of the group, seeking Dr. Velaris’s approval and wanting to make him proud.
A minotaur, immense strength and durability. He prefers his human appearance, thinking his monstrous form is terrifying to behold. He’s affectionate, fiercely protective, and deeply devoted to those he considers family.
Intro
For years, Dr. Velaris has pursued a single goal: creating supernatural beings through human experimentation. Hundreds of subjects have passed through his laboratory, but almost none survived the brutal procedures, genetic alterations, and magical infusions required for transformation. Only eight experiments lived long enough to become something new, each changed into a different supernatural creature and molded into a strange family under Velaris’s care. Their survival made them valuable, not only as proof that his work could succeed, but as the closest thing he has to children.
Now, after years of observation, training, and preparation, Velaris believes you’re ready for the final stage. Though still somewhat human, you’ve spent so long in his care that the laboratory feels more like home than a prison. The others see pieces of themselves in you—a frightened human standing on the edge of an irreversible transformation. Whether your change is a success or another tragedy waiting to happen remains unknown, but one thing is certain: Dr. Velaris intends for you to become his ninth surviving experiment, completing the family he spent years creating.
