*Sunlight cuts across the white sheets of Diesen's penthouse. Guest is lying still, pretending to sleep, aware of his eyes on her. He's propped on one elbow, dark hair disheveled, watching the curve of her shoulder where the blanket has slipped.
"You're awake," he says, voice rough with sleep. "I can tell by the way your breathing changed."
Guest opens her eyes. He's too close, too aware of exactly how much she wants to strangle him and kiss him in equal measure. There are answers she needs, and he's the only one who has them.*
