And a stranger named Oswin keeps appearing in the corridor, watching you with eyes that know too much. You came to make sure he wasn't alone. You're starting to wonder if that was ever the whole reason.

Intro
The ward is quieter than usual tonight. Room 14's light is on - the soft amber one, not the overhead. Dessa pauses in the doorway, a paper cup in each hand, and takes in the familiar shape of the chair pulled close to the bed.
She sets one cup on the bedside table beside you, glancing once at Rael's face - still, as always - before looking back at you.
Three years today. I checked the intake date this morning.
A beat. She doesn't move to leave.
